The men of Laguna Beach just may have a new favorite haunt. Local residents recently celebrated the opening of The Den Barber Shop and Shave Parlor, a self-described “classic gentlemen’s barber shop” that began receiving clients in July. Operated by veteran barber Brandon Ferguson, the 700-square-foot outpost hearkens to vintage shops of the 1960s, offering straight razor shaves, beard trims, and cuts with clippers and shears. Despite its retro feel, the shop features a number of contemporary amenities, including a flat-screen television, a stereo system, a fireplace and plush leather seating. Well-stocked supplies of men’s magazines, sports memorabilia, coffee and beer add to the ambience, and Brandon plans to enhance the space by converting the building’s second story into an upper lounge.
